Nancy has been studying yoga since 1995. It took only a few classes to have her "hooked on yoga". As soon as she realized what a wonderful experience it was, she knew that she would be practicing yoga for life. Nancy has always led a very active lifestyle. She was a cheerleader in high school, practiced and received her 1st degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do in high school and college, and skied for many years. She has played tennis and racquetball for many years and is now an avid golfer. With several past knee injuries, Nancy realized that a different form of physical activity would suit her body in a more positive way. Yoga seemed to be a perfect fit to enhance her overall health and well being. She also discovered that Tai Chi was a perfect way to increase her study of martial arts in a more gentle way.
Nancy has been a practicing dental hygienist since 1975. She holds a B.S. degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Maryland and an M.A. degree in Human Resource Management from the George Washington University. She has always had a special interest in health and disease prevention. Her growing interest in yoga led her to study with Joseph and Lilian LePage in the Integrative Yoga Therapy teacher training program. After receiving her 200 hour certification, she continued her training and has now completed her 1000 hour Professional Yoga Therapist certification. She is a Second Degree Reiki practitioner and is certified to teach Tai Chi for Arthritis, Tai Chi for Osteoporosis and Tai Chi for Energy by Dr. Paul Lam.
