Multi-level Group Yoga Classes

Most of Nancy's group yoga classes are multilevel classes. She teaches an integrative style of hatha yoga that blends the best of many different styles with workshop type classes as well as flowing vinyasas. With the use of props (straps, blocks, blankets, and bolsters) she can adapt all of the poses (asanas) to meet each student's individual needs. Nancy teaches different breathing techniques (pranayama) as well as the use of mudras (hand gestures) that help in directing the energy flow in the body.

To participate in a group yoga class, one must be able to get up and down from the mat on the floor to a standing position with relative ease. If that is not possible, then a private or therapeutic class would be appropriate.

Gentle/Beginners Group Yoga Class
This class is appropriate for beginners and students that wish a gentle class or would like to continue working on the basic standing and sitting poses. There is more emphasis on relaxation, improving standing and sitting postures, restorative poses, and improving basic strength and flexiblility.

Tai Chi - A form of traditional Chinese mind/body exercise and meditation that uses slow sets of body movements and controlled breathing. Tai chi is done to improve balance, flexibility, muscle strength, and overall health. Dr. Paul Lam's Tai Chi for Health classes are taught.

Stress Reduction Workshop - This will be a 1.5 -2 hour workshop focusing on gentle restorative poses, stretching, breathing and relaxation techniques specifically to reduce stress and anxiety. No prior yoga experience needed. Must be able to get up and down from floor unassisted. Bring yoga mat, mexican blanket and hand towel.

Reiki - is a form of therapy that uses simple hands-on, no-touch, and visualization techniques, with the goal of improving the flow of life energy in a person. Reiki (pronounced ray-key) means "universal life energy" in Japanese, and Reiki practitioners are trained to detect and alleviate problems of energy flow on the physical, emotional, and spiritual level. Reiki touch therapy is used in much the same way to achieve similar effects that traditional massage is used—to relieve stress and pain and to improve the symptoms of various health conditions. By appointment only.


Yoga Therapy Classes (Group and Private)

Yoga Therapy is offered for students with special needs or injuries. Therapeutic classes are offered based on the needs and requests of the students. Private yoga therapy sessions are designed specifically to meet the needs of individuals who have special medical conditions. Yoga therapy can help with (but is not limited to):

Special Workshops

Special focus workshops will be offered from time to time based on the requests of the students. Workshops can be designed for golfers, men only, gentle yoga, vinyasa flow, relax and renew, stress reduction, or even a spa type yoga party, just to mention a few examples.
